Kristina Sidorova was born in Samara, Russia. In 2018 she graduated from St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television as a film director. Now she is engaged in video color correction and cinematography.
Kristina took part in our festival with the short horror "Through the field".

— Tell us a little about your experience? Was it only a film connected or you did/do something else?
— "Through the Field" is my graduation film and the first horror film I have shot. Before that, there were two more educational short films.

— What inspired you to make your short film? How did you come up with that idea?

— In fact, it is simple to banal. One night, I had a nightmare that my boyfriend wanted to kill me. But, not on the field and with a pistol.
Then the writer and I thought that something interesting might come of this, and we started working on the plot.
Plus I have always gravitated towards horror films, and during that period I watched films in the New French Extremity genre, I think this also influenced.
— Tell us how it was to produce your film? What was the starting point, funding, script, shooting, casting, edit etc.
— We were writing the script for several months, changed a lot from the initial version and improved it during the filming. They were quite time consuming, at least because we were filming fighting dogs and they were not easy to deal with.
For actress Daria Zakharo, who played Anya, this was the first experience of filming a movie.
Before approving her, I invited her to the casting twice, since initially the image of the main character was completely different. But the director's instinct did not deceive, and I have never regretted my choice. Daria was perfect for this role.
—Funny or scary moments on the set?
There were more creepy and scary moments. But one situation that stuck in my mind as a cameraman and artist was when we were driving around looking for the perfect location for nightmare scenes. We found, as it seemed to us, a suitable field and drove straight across it. As a result, our car got stuck right in the middle, and there was no one around. Then the tow truck that we called got stuck, the car of a man living nearby got stuck. But in the end, everyone was pulled out by his neighbor's Niva. In total, we spent 7 hours on the field. But the location did not suit us.

— What is your favorite film?

— Estonian horror film "November", by Rainer Sarnet.
Films that inspired the filming - "Raw", by Julia Ducorno, "Thelma", by Joachim Trier.
— Give advice for those who want to make a film, but don't know from where to start?
Do not listen to anyone and do what seems right to you.
